Iced Pistachio Milk Matcha

Matcha is definitely one of my favorite parts of my morning routine and this pistachio version is made with Setton Farms Raw Pistachio Kernels is my go-to lately. This homemade pistachio milk can be made with 5 ingredients or less and is preservative free! Plus, adding a plant milk to your matcha can help you meet your protein goals this year – pistachios are one of the only nuts that provide all your essential amino acids for a complete source of protein. This matcha recipe can be made hot as well – find it below!

Homemade Pistachio Milk

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Setton Farms Raw Pistachio Kernels
  • 4 cups filtered water (plus extra for soaking)
  • 1-2 teaspoons vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1-2 teaspoons maple syrup (optional, for sweetness)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  • Place the pistachios in a bowl and cover them with water. Let them soak for 6-8 hours or overnight. This softens them for blending.
  • Drain the soaking water and rinse the pistachios under cold water.
  • Add the soaked pistachios and 4 cups of filtered water to a blender. Blend on high for 1-2 minutes until smooth and creamy.
  • Pour the mixture through a nut milk bag, fine-mesh strainer, or cheesecloth into a bowl. Squeeze out all the liquid, leaving the pulp behind.
  • Add vanilla extract, sweetener, and a pinch of salt. Blend again briefly to combine.
  • Transfer the pistachio milk to a jar or bottle and refrigerate for up to 4 days. Shake well before each use.

Iced Pistachio Milk Matcha

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup homemade pistachio milk
  • 1 teaspoon matcha powder
  • 2-3 tablespoons hot water
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • Ice cubes

Instructions:

  • In a small bowl, whisk 1 teaspoon of matcha powder with 2-3 tablespoons of hot water using a bamboo whisk or milk frother until smooth and frothy. Ensure no clumps remain.
  • Add honey or maple syrup to the matcha and mix well.
  • Fill a glass with ice cubes and pour 1 cup of pistachio milk over the ice.
  • Slowly pour the prepared matcha on top to create a layered effect.
  • Stir gently before drinking.

Tips:

  • For a creamier texture, use slightly less water when making pistachio milk.
  • Enhance the pistachio flavor by blending a small handful of soaked pistachios into the matcha drink before serving.
  • You can add a sprinkle of crushed pistachios or a drizzle of honey on top for garnish.
